Roast pork (烧肉)… yummy…
This is the first time I got so up close and personal with a full-sized roast pig. Most times, it’s just a few chunks of the tasty meat served with rice on a small dish. Needless to say, it’s pretty damn fattening, so please don’t make this your daily diet OK? Else your arteries sure get clogged up, and you’ll get a stroke or heart attack at a young age.
The occasion was the Chinese wedding ceremony of my female cousin in KL, Malaysia. As per the Cantonese custom, the groom gotta give the bride’s family a whole roast pig, as he goes to “fetch the bride”. My aunt chopped up the pig (the main body) alright, and served up the pieces to everyone on site. Then the bride gotta return the pig (less the juicy middle section) to the groom’s family – I have no idea what good it is to the groom’s family with the centre bits missing… I already had my fill, so I’m happy!
Here’s me enjoying the heavenly taste of roast pork, with the absolutely delectable crispy skin. As they say in Australia, “Good on ya, mate!!!”

Phuket Trip - Part II
On the second full day in Phuket, we did water activities. We hopped on this canoe that went down some estuary; even though the water was relatively calm and we were going downstream, we still had to paddle in synchronism so as to reach the end point where everyone was waiting for us. I haven’t paddled like this in years; my arms got a little sore after that. It was great fun though!
Then we hit the open seas. A big boat took us to two different spots for sea-kayaking. At the designated spots, kayaks would appear mysteriously, with the seasoned paddler seated at the back seta. See the hole in the rock-face behind me? Yup, we went through it, to the other side. It was quite an amazing experience, having to lay down flat (horizontally) so as to avoid being decapitated by the sharp rocks.
Obviously I wasn’t paying much attention, so I couldn’t recall the names of the individual islands, except for the last one – James Bond Island – made famous by a James Bond movie back in the 1960s or 70s??? Can’t remember the exact name of the movie – if you know, leave a comment here, so we can all learn something…

And how can a blog be complete without some interesting signs. I reckon this sign was erected shortly after the Boxing Day tsunami of 26 December 2004. Never seen such a sign before in my life!
What is a “Sun Barm Treatment”?!? “Sun Burn” la…, day… Still haven’t worked out what a “Feet Scean” is… Hmm…
I got a window seat on the flight home. Managed to take a nice photo of the runway of Phuket airport’s. Cool…

All in all, I had an enjoyable time in Phuket. Worth going (especially if you live in Southeast Asia), that’s for sure.
